pre-workout food is genuinely a whole thing
Been experimenting with timing and what I eat before sessions for ages now and honestly it still feels like guesswork sometimes. I used to train on basically nothing — like a black coffee and vibes — and I thought I was fine until I started paying attention to how I actually felt in the middle of a flow or a heavy lift.
Right now my best window is about 45 minutes before. Something small, not too heavy. Banana with a bit of nut butter is my go-to, or a small portion of oats if I've got a longer strength session ahead. I tried training after a proper meal once — a whole grain situation — and I was so sluggish in uttanasana I could've fallen asleep standing up. Lesson learned tbh. I've also noticed that if I leave it too long and go in properly empty I start losing focus around the 40 min mark, which for a class I'm teaching is not ideal lol. It's less about any specific formula and more about just actually paying attention to your own body. Took me longer to figure that out than I'd like to admit.
