skin's already panicking and it's barely October

Right so my cheeks started feeling tight last week and I was like... already? It's not even properly cold yet. Honestly the switch from summer to autumn is the bit that always gets me. Summer you're dealing with oil and SPF residue, then suddenly your skin just goes 'nope, different rules now' and you haven't caught up yet. The main thing I've noticed — and this is from my own skin, not a clinical claim — is that hydration drops before you even feel dry. Like the tightness is a lagging indicator, the damage is already done by then. I basically just swap out my lighter serum for something with hyaluronic acid and a bit of ceramide support around late September. Not a full routine overhaul, just that one layer. Also eased off the exfoliation — I was doing it twice a week in summer and that needs to drop to once now tbh, skin's not the same barrier situation in colder air. From a collagen angle (my actual area), autumn's also when I start being more consistent with it again. Summer I get lazy. The evidence on collagen peptides supporting skin hydration is reasonably solid — not miraculous, but solid enough that I notice when I've been slack for a few weeks.

noticed the same with my hands actually — starts with tightness and by the time it feels properly dry you've already missed the window. drink more water at my desk now just from habit, not sure it fully fixes it but it seems to help a bit
